Canopies and covers are probably the most prevalent and practical of all golf cart accessories. And while similar, the two serve quite different purposes. A golf cart canopy protects golfers by making sides for the cart. It may have a windshield, side flaps with windows, and a rear flap (also with a window), or any combination of these. A golf cart cover protects the whole cart when it is not in use. It may be for indoor or outdoor use, or both. Covers are generally held closed with a zipper and designed to protect carts from rain, sun, dust, and insects.

While there are many golf cart accessories that highlight function, practicality, and convenience, there is one that stands out as simply for the enjoyment of the players. One of the more creative (and quite popular) accessories is the golf cart pet bed. This is a plush bed with mid-height sides that straps securely to the seat of the golf cart. It generally will include a harness to keep the animal safely inside the bed (yet let it move around), and is padded to keep the animal comfortable.
