One of our Sports Northwest sister publications, Media Inc., which is read by marketing, advertising and creative pros, featured an interesting ad from KJR AM 950 (full disclosure: KJR is also a Sports Northwest advertiser and Mike Gastineau writes a column for the mag). The ad, which is practically plain text, reads thusly:
710 ESPN, Welcome to the Neighborhood
Congratulations!
We’re glad our friends at Bonneville have discovered what hundreds of our advertisers have known for years: sports radio offers access to an audience like no other. Hundreds of thousands of upscale men tune to sports radio every week to find out not what happened to the Huskies, Hawks, M’s and Cougs. THey tun to us to find out why. And in the process, we offer our advertisers efficient access to an elusive audience that’s far more affordable than play by play. So, we wish our friends at 710 ESPN the best in developing relevant, compelling content that touches the passion of the local fan.
We’ve been doing just that for 17 years.
We know the challenge.
Seth here again: the ad ends with the KJR logo, and the tagline “The Northwest’s Home for Live and Local Sports Since 1991.”
