Just got back from the gym, where I hung around long enough to see Mill Creek LL’s Alex Jondal hit a walk-off single to give his team a 3-2 win in seven innings. That’s extra innings–in case you didn’t play Little League or have forgotten, regulation games are six innings.
The game was a must-win for Mill Creek–they will now advance to the semifinal round if Lake Charles, LA beats Hagerstown, MD later today, a prospect that seems likely because, as the Seattle Times’ Chris Masse wrote in this morning’s paper: “Louisiana has allowed one run and Maryland 17 through two games.”
Louisiana must win to advance as well, so it’s not like they’ll be playing the backups.
Should Louisiana seal the deal (the game’s at 5pm tonight, you can watch on ESPN2), Mill Creek would face West Waipahu, Hawaii in the semis, tomorrow at 5pm. That game would be on ESPN. Here’s the full schedule.
