Boy is it going bad for the M’s. They finally get some offense–12 runs, more than they scored from May 6-10–but that’s the day Bedard doesn’t have good stuff. McLaren might have been a little less patient with Bedard. He’s a good starter, but he didn’t have it tonight, and the M’s need to start playing like every game is a playoff game. McLaren himself said after the game that Bedard seemed to be having problems. If that’s the case, get him the hell out of there before you lose a five-run lead! Oy. McLaren played it by the book, and got burned. He’s going to have to start getting creative and finding ways to steal wins if he even wants to manage in the majors again. Geoff Baker called the game a nightmare. Walking 13 hitters, two shy of the club record, didn’t help, writes David Andriesen.
Larry Stone on Griffey coming to Seattle: “I think it’s going to happen. Griffey to Seattle is starting to have the distinct feel of inevitability, if all the rumblings in the baseball world are true.” Stone then goes on to play devil’s advocate–Griffey wouldn’t like DH, he’s expensive, he may not have much left.
TNT’s Dave Boling calls for Bavasi’s (large, beautiful) head: “The 2008 Mariners aren’t just bad. They’re boringly bad. They’re lifelessly bad. It’s taken a lot of losing to do it, but they’ve eroded a huge and dedicated fan base. Bavasi has had time to fix it and it’s only gotten worse.”
After Jarrod Washburn called out Kenji Johjima, the M’s called up their organizational catching guru, Roger Hansen. Washburn tried to soften his comments Monday: “Just because we’re not on the same page doesn’t mean we can’t get people out. If I’ve got to shake a few extra times to get to the pitch I want to throw, I still have to throw the pitch and execute the pitch to get the guy out. It’s not his fault if I don’t pitch well.”
Former Mets and Rangers OF Victor Diaz, who has a .487 slugging percentage in 446 MLB at bats, had joined the Rainiers as Wlad’s replacement. Diaz hit two dingers last night.

Jim Moore has the scoop on why KJR took Dave Grosby’s show away–Clear Channel forced them to make cuts, and Grosby was the one who’s contract happened to be up for renewal. Corporate America, sometimes you really suck.
The last living member of the 1939-41 Seattle Rainiers–which won three consecutive PCL championships, died last Thursday. Bob Stagg, 86, was a reserve catcher for the Rainiers.
Run n’ gunnin’ Beach grads Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson are Knicks for whom the hiring of Mike D’Antoni is good news, according to NYT’s Howard Beck. This is not true for Zach Randolph.
Speaking of Crawford and Robinson, Rainier Beach assistant Ed Haskins coached them both. Now Haskins will coach Tony Wroten, who some say will be even better. Yup, Garfield finally chose a coach. I’m struggling to visualize Haskins–Beach has so many damn assistants, it’s hard to know who is who.
